Shizugatake, Shiga Prefecture toda, in April 1583. Hideyoshi, who won this fierce battle, splitting the Oda forces in two, inherited the power and system built by the late Oda Nobunaga, and took the first step toward a longing for unification of the world. Also Fukushima Masanori played a major role in defeating the enemy general in this battle, gaining a chance to succeed, and becoming the central figure of the team Toyotomi subsequently. Kōno clan, who ruled around District of Iyo, built a palace-type castle and converted it into a stronghold that could be used in the Sengoku Worlord Period in the first half of the 16th century. Then Kōno surrendered to Kobayakawa Takakage by Hideyoshi Toyotomi's "Shikoku District Attack", one of famous conquest by Hideyoshi. The castle soon became an abandoned castle.
A castle surrounded by double moats, rare for a Sengoku Warlord Period The castle spans the hills and the plain below, with the hills surrounded by double moats and earthworks. It is said that there were Kōno's residences and samurai's residences that Kōno trusted between the outer moat and the inner moat.
The existing inner moat on the south side is about 12m wide and about 2.5m deep and surrounds the hill.
Earthworks the Castle had not only a moat but also a double earthwork.

Big rocks reminiscent of Yuzuki Castle in the old days At the end of the Sengoku Warlord period, Yuzuki Castle became an abandoned castle, and the center moved to Matsuyama Castle. At that time, many building materials such as stone walls and tiles were transported to Matsuyama Castle.
The samurai residences, earthen walls, roads, drains, etc. by excavation have been restored and open to the public currently.
There is Dōgo Onsen hotspring, which is close to Yuzuki Castle and Matsuyama Castle, one of the leading hot spring resorts in Japan. It is very recommended as a tourist spot.
