"Kojō ezu (picture in Edo Period)" from 国立国会図書館

Collected by the Inagaki family, the Toba Daimyō from the mid-Edo period to the Meiji Restoration, as materials for military studies. There are about 350 illustrations, but there is no uniformity because only illustrations of castles, illustrations including castle towns, and old battlefield illustrations are mixed.

Another typical example of a castle picture in the Edo period is "The Shōhō Shiroezu", picture of the castle and castle town that the Edo Shogunate ordered the daimyō to create and submit, aggregating military information such as the buildings inside the castle, the height of the stone wall, the width of the moat and the water depth, etc., it also details the location and shape of the castle town and the mountain river.

The family crest was originally created from the pattern that the emperor and the royal family put on the kimono, and the pattern was made into a fixed pattern, and the one attached to his own oxcart is said to be the beginning of the family crest. The warlords drew large crests on the flag-fingers, used to distinguish enemy views on the battlefield, and used by the generals to determine which warlords were active and how much.

The master of the castle, Todo Takatora, was ordered by Tokugawa Ieyasu to carry out major renovations as a base for attacking Toyotomi Clan, Osaka Castle. The Honmaru was changed and the Kuruwa was expanded to build Taka-ishigaki (very high stone walls). A five-layered main keep was also built, but it is said to have collapsed during construction. As represented by the illusionary castle tower, Igaueno Castle is also known as a castle with many unfinished parts. The west side of the Honmaru was solidified, but the outer moat and earthworks surrounding the castle area were interrupted in places, and even the Honmaru was vulnerable.
The castle was abandoned in 1615 when Toyotomi died, and remained untouched. Defense against Toyotomi was top priority and the role of the castle has ended when the opponent is destroyed. The main keep is double-third floor, and the small one is the double-second floor. Both are wooden mock-up towers.
The feature of Igaueno Castle is Takaishigaki, which is said to be the tallest in Japan. It piled up about 30 meters high from Uchibori in the Honmaru west , still retains its shape even today.
TakaIshigaki, also known as No.1 in Japan together with Osaka Castle's, was built in 1611 using the technique of "Uchikomihagi", The stones are pounded tightly into place and the corners and rough edges are smoothed some to help them fit together better. The remaining holes are filled with smaller stones to tightly fill the gaps. This makes a stronger wall than "Nozurazumi" and these walls can be built higher.
"Haiseiden"

Wooden building built to commemorate the 300th birthday of Basho Matsuo, who is one of the best haiku masters in Japanese history also known as haiku in later generations all over the world.
